In March 2023, amidst an impressive lineup of 400 films, we were thrilled to learn that our film for The Include Choir had been shortlisted as one of the 18 finalists in the prestigious 2023 Smiley Charity Film Awards.
This recognition fills our hearts with immense pride reinforcing our unwavering commitment to eloquently and authentically tell stories, capturing the true essence of those we film.
Local Charity
The Include Choir is a remarkable local charity based in the heart of Redhill, founded by Alix Lewer. With a focus on creating an inclusive environment, the charity brings together individuals with and without communication needs and understanding difficulties. Using music as a catalyst, The Include Choir provides a platform for its members to learn Makaton sign language, fostering a space where they can have fun, connect with their peers, and break down barriers.
The importance of inclusive communication
Understanding the importance of spreading the message of inclusive communication and the transformative impact of their work, the management team, along with a dedicated group of staff and volunteers, embarked on a project to create a film. Their goal was to effectively convey the essence of The Include Choir’s mission and showcase the profound difference they make in the lives of those they touch.
Capturing the essence of The Include Choir
Over the course of a month, our team meticulously captured the spirit and ethos of The Include Choir through various events. From their heartwarming weekly training days to vibrant public events, we sought to authentically portray the genuine interactions and connections that take place within the choir’s supportive community.
Powerful and moving films
The result was a series of four powerful and moving films that we proudly shared across social media platforms. Each film delved into the heart of The Include Choir, portraying the joy and fulfilment that music and sign language bring to its members’ lives. These films became a testament to the dedication of the staff, volunteers, and, most importantly, the members who form the vibrant core of The Include Choir.
Smiley CFA Shortlist
Taking immense pride in our work, we were elated when our films were recognized and appreciated by the 2023 Smiley 2023 Charity Film Awards panel. Being shortlisted as one of the 18 finalists in the Under £100,000 Turnover category was a humbling moment, and it reinforced the value of the inclusive work being done at The Include Choir.

None of this would have been possible without the combined talents and efforts of our incredible team. Lee Mancini, our skilled producer and director, brought the project to life with unwavering dedication. Behind the camera, Lee and Julian Kerridge captured every genuine moment and emotion, ensuring that the essence of The Include Choir was portrayed authentically. The post-production process was masterfully handled by Lee, and Yevhenii Leonov lent his artistic touch as the colourist, bringing a vibrant feel to the final films.
